SHUNT做為後備裝置，大約在2.5到3KN左右會開始滑動；IRATA質疑，當過大的墜落衝擊或重量過重，可能導致裝置失效。

而PETZL對此發出聲明，並由IRATA總部寄發給所有會員公司。原文如下：

"Additional information concerning the use of the Petzl SHUNT within IRATA techniques.

The Petzl statement of May 2009 regarding the continued use of the Petzl SHUNT as a back-up device within the IRATA system of work is still, and has always been, valid since its publication. Note that the statement makes reference to IRATA techniques and is only related to these techniques. It's validity will not stop abruptly.

IRATA are working with Petzl to improve the efficiency of the back-up system and will provide further information to members regarding this important subject very shortly."

基本上的大意就是指出PETZL仍然指出SHUNT做為後備裝置是沒有問題的，而他們也正在研究關於IRATA對於SHUNT適用性的探討。

而亞陞做為IRATA的會員公司，IRATA也有給出我們對於操作SHUNT的建議；若你仍然使用SHUNT做為後備裝置，為了減少可能的下墜衝擊，你應該非常關注它。

至少有三件事，是操作必需注意的：

一、SHUNT永遠必須高過肩膀。

二、操作時，SHUNT應該在盡可能高的位置。

三、使用於救援時，SHUNT應該與下降裝備分開操作。
